Before forming The Chosen Few, Thompson fronted Bobby Thompson and The Groove, a powerhouse ensemble that represented Western Pennsylvania at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. Performing on historic Beale Street among the country’s best blues musicians was a defining milestone—one that showcased Thompson’s fiery playing and heartfelt musicianship. That same year, he was honored with the Jim Weber Guitarist of the Year Award, solidifying his standing as one of the region’s premier blues artists.
